Two Great Books among the Latest Cocky Hero Releases: Cocky Carpenter & British Black Sheep

I was only able to read two of the titles in the latest batch of the Cocky Hero Releases but they both turned out to be really fantastic. I recommend both titles to you.

Cocky Carpenter by Maggie Mundy

Suspenseful Romance Is Feast For the Senses

4.5/5 Stars

What you need to know about Cocky Carpenter:
✔ Setting in Australia’s Blue Mountains
✔ A touch of suspense to this romance
✔ Complete stand-alone
✔ Beautiful British Doctor heroine
✔ Hot Aussie Carpenter hero
✔ If you loved British Bedmate by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, you will get to see more of Simon and Brigid and also Chance and Aubrey from Cocky Bastard!

Maggie Mundy is a new author to me as are a lot of the Cocky Hero authors. I really enjoyed reading “Cocky Carpenter” so I’ll be looking for more of her books. “Cocky Carpenter” is a great mix of romance and suspense without being strictly what I would call a romantic suspense novel. It just had that extra dash of spice to get you on the edge of your seat without it being all about the suspense. One of the real stars in this book is the backdrop; the descriptions of the Blue Mountains are really wonderful if not a wee bit scary (Australia is a little scary, okay?)!

The absolute star of this book is Brett and Autumn’s relationship from their first meeting (Brett’s STD check-up), their second meeting (Brett’s rescue of naked Autumn in the tub) to their glow worm expedition and let’s just say every interaction these two have. They are fantastic. I love that Brett is not the “typical” Aussie bloke that a lot of romances might portray, he’s sensitive and compassionate to Autumn. Autumn has suffered some setbacks in her life but she’s tough but vulnerable and open.

I didn’t even mind the third person narration as you get in both their heads. I loved seeing both couples from “British Bedmate” and “Cocky Bastard”. I loved Bluey and Dorothy. I loved that Maggie Mundy trusted the reader with the language. Kudos for this great addition to the Cocky Hero Club.

Many thanks to Give Me Books Promotions, the Cocky Hero Club, and Maggie Mundy for an ARC in exchange for an honest book review of “Cocky Carpenter”. My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own and independent of receiving an advance copy.

A year in Australia working as a doctor sounds like a great idea to Autumn. She can escape the cold English weather, her ex-husband and a stalker. A year to get her life back together and not have any romantic involvements.

‘Love them and leave them wanting’ is Brett’s motto. That is until he sees Doctor Autumn Blake. This lady just might get through that tough layer he has built around himself.

Can the sexual chemistry they feel be just that, or could it be more?

Is one year long enough for these two people to forget their pasts and grab onto a chance of love or will they lose it forever.

British Black Sheep by Lauren Smith

Magical Christmas Romance Will Melt Your Heart

4.5/5 Stars

What you need to know about British Black Sheep:
✔ Force proximity romance
✔ Complete stand-alone
✔ Lovely American ghost writer heroine
✔ Hot British investment banker
✔ If you loved British Bedmate by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, you will get to see more of Simon and Brigid

Lauren Smith is a new author to me but I will be looking up her other works immediately after reading the thoroughly enchanting “British Black Sheep”. “British Black Sheep” is a magical Christmas romance that is lavish in its descriptions of the holidays in the English countryside with a beautiful and steamy romance as its centerpiece. It’s really quite stunning with echoes of Dylan Thomas’ “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” if you added a romance to that story.

Alec and Brie meet when they are seated next to each other in first class on the flight from New York to London. He insults her bodice ripper, her name and is generally an asshat. Eventually they become friendlier and share some champagne and good conversation and part in London thinking they will never see each other again.

Shockingly, they end up on a second flight sitting beside each other again on the second leg of their journey to Manchester. They don’t know they are both heading for the same destination: Merryvale Court, where Brie is ghostwriting a Christmas book for Alec’s mother.

Can these two broken souls find the beauty in the Christmas traditions of Merryvale and can it mend those places in their hearts?

British Black Sheep by Lauren Smith

He is exactly the kind of man Brie Honeyweather swore never to love…or lust after ever again: a sexy, arrogant, British bad boy in a designer suit. Alec is the last person Brie wants to be stuck on an international flight to London with, but hey…at least they’re in first class.

When their flight has to make an emergency landing in a snowstorm just before Christmas, Brie and Alec are thrown together in a single bedroom in a tiny English village. As the snowstorm rages outside, things get intense and emotions and lust run hot. Alec reminds Brie just how much she misses being with a man and how easy it is to fall head over heels too fast.

What should have been an amazing one-night stand turns into a week-long secret romance at Alec’s family estate when Brie realizes her new boss is Alec’s mother, a British countess. While Brie tries to focus on writing a Christmas book with the countess, all she can think about is getting back into bed with Alec.

She shouldn’t fall for the arrogant brit, especially when their lives are oceans apart and neither of them wants a serious relationship. But Christmas magic has a way of working miracles. Maybe Santa will bring her a happy ending after all…
