The Cocky Hero Club is introducing me to authors I’ve never read before but I guess that’s kind of the point. In this case it is Cocksure Ace by K Webster. Her heroine, Sheridan Reid, is so awful at first that the hero says to her “Do you even have any friends because it’s hard imagining you being nice to anyone.” and it’s true!
But the author works her magic and Hurricane Rodrigo traps the cast in a small village in Mexico. Sheridan is thereby forcibly introduced to a zany cast of characters and experiences some softening up. She let’s go of her harsh personality and starts caring for the people around her for the first time in her life.
The hero, Camilo, is instantly likeable and charming and is eventually able to dissuade Sheridan from her plan of seducing her father’s best friend, David (ick). I must mention the stand out characters of Estefania and Damien who are just absolute crazy balls of joy.
They latch on to Sheridan and basically force her to become friends with them and she’s so shocked by their willingness to put up with her horribleness that she becomes a better person. Camillo definitely adds to Sheridan becoming a better version of herself by loving her for who she is.
Carter from Playboy Pilot is also along for the ride and it’s a real joy to get more time with him (and a tiny bit with Kendall). This was a really fun, zany read with some crazy loveable characters and a smoking hot couple that will have flames coming out of your kindle.
