Chemistry Doesn’t Lie: There’s Only the Lies We Tell Ourselves

Coming August 25th

The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn presents an electric duo in Will and Hadley, with chemistry that is off the charts. It is also a romantic comedy with a unique depth to its main characters who are each overcoming their own broken history. This doesn’t lessen the comedic aspects of the story, it gives you a well-balanced book that allows you to both laugh and cry. I absolutely loved Hadley and Will, as even while I was shaking my head at Will’s hardheadedness, I understood where it was coming from. The book also gives you an amazing array of supporting characters who are completely realized and funny as hell.

The Wedding Date Disaster has everything you want in a romance: deep connections, a bit of angst, sizzling chemistry, a hot and steamy romance, the love of family, a lot of laughs and ultimately, redemption.

What you need to know about The Wedding Date Disaster:
✔ Enemies-to-Lovers romance
✔ Complete stand-alone
✔ Contemporary romance
✔ Forced proximity
✔ Best friend’s TWIN brother

Hadley Donavan is a consultant at a charitable-giving firm working in Harbor City. She escaped her Nebraska-bred roots to live her big city dreams but they are more like nightmares. She’s carefully curating everything she tells her family back home so they don’t know how difficult things are in her day-to-day existence.

Will Holt is billionaire CEO of Holt Enterprises and the twin brother of Web, Hadley’s best friend. Will erroneously and obsessively thinks that Hadley is a gold digger only out to tie Web down somehow. He doesn’t understand that Web is one of the two friends that Hadley has in Harbor City and that she would never take a dime from him.

Hadley and Will hate each other but their attraction is off the charts.

Web tells Hadley that he will be her plus one at Hadley’s sister’s wedding in Nebraska for a week to distract them all from the lies that Hadley’s been telling them about her less-than-stellar real life. Web gets food poisoning the night before and Will says he’ll take his place thinking that he can get rid of gold digging Hadley once and for all.

Hadley sees Will arrive at the airport instead of Web:
“Please, whoever is the patron saint of women just trying to make it through the day without committing murder, deliver me from this vision of a totally fresh hell.”

Hadley can’t understand how even though they are identical twins, Will is somehow sexier than Web. Hmmmm. “How did he always produce this hot, flushed, so-damned-bothered involuntary reaction just by existing in the same room as her?”

Hadley’s Nebraska family is at once so familiar and so unique and fun, from her crazy-story-telling, three-girlfriend-having Pawpaw to Frito-pie-making Aunt Louise and all of Hadley’s overprotective and loving siblings. Can Hadley and Will somehow recognize each other’s broken parts and similarities? Will Hadley admit the truth to her family? Can Will let go of his obsession with painting Hadley as a gold digger and admit to their attraction?
