Review: Five Stars for The Sweetest Fix by Tessa Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Hot, Steamy and Angsty Romance
“The Sweetest Fix” is instantly engaging with characters you will absolutely love. You will be rooting for Leo and Reese from the very beginning despite the obstacles in their path.
What you need to know about “The Sweetest Fix”:
✔ Opposites Attract
✔ NYC setting
✔ Complete stand-alone
✔ Instant attraction
✔ Grumpy antisocial bear of a baker, 28
✔ Petite driven dancer from Wisconsin, 21
✔ Sweet and Raunchy
Reese is looking for her shot at the big time while working part-time at the Dairy Queen in her small town in Wisconsin. She’s living with her Mom when she gets the news that she’s made a once in a lifetime audition in New York City in front of the famed dancer, Bernard Bexley. Unfortunately the audition is for the following day. Due to a series of delays Reese misses the audition. Not knowing what to do she takes the advice of a cigarette-smoking Times Square Pikachu and seeks out Bexley’s son, Leo. Leo owns a bakery named The Cookie Jar. Reese plans to beg Leo for help in tracking down his reclusive father to ask for a second chance.
Things don’t go as planned when Reese enters the bakery and both she and Leo find themselves instantly attracted to one another. Reese doesn’t want to use Leo any more and suddenly Leo finds himself doing things that take him out of his usual introvert comfort zone. Reese decides that she will use her savings and spend the next two weeks trying to get her big break and if not she’ll head back to Wisconsin. But Leo and Reese get closer and find themselves falling for one another. Reese’s lies to Leo start to pile up.
What happens if Leo finds out why Reese came into his bakery in the first place? Leo has been burned before by someone getting close to him just to get to his powerful father. There’s a real danger they could break each other’s hearts.
Tessa Bailey is one of my favorite authors. She always brings the heat along with a great character-driven, romantic story and she does that again in “The Sweetest Fix”. Leo and Reese’s interactions just make your whole heart smile. They make one another so happy.
It’s a little angsty reading Leo second guess his and Reese’s feelings for one another and putting the blame solely on himself because of his social reticence. It made me hurt even as I understood Reese’s reasonings. You just want to love the big grump. The love and angst continues as Reese digs herself in deeper but you will have to read this amazing, sexy, unforgettable romance to find out what happens.
Plot Description
Reese dreams of seeing her name in lights on Broadway, but so far she has only graced the used car parking lots of rural Wisconsin. With her window of opportunity shrinking fast, a miracle happens. She wins an audition with Bernard Bexley, Broadway’s most respected dance choreographer. When disaster strikes and Reese misses the audition, she has to find another way in front of Bernard, otherwise face the disappointment back home.
Following the sage advice of a Times Square Pikachu—Reese seeks out Bernard’s son, prepared to beg for his aid, never expecting mega sparks to fly between her and the gentle giant baker. With Reese’s heart now involved, she refuses to use Leo to her advantage and tries to walk away before her ulterior motives are exposed, but gravity continues to draw them back together…until it’s impossible to stay apart.
But Reese’s lie of omission can only stay buried for so long. When Leo finds out how their relationship started, will Reese keep her ultimate role as Leo’s leading lady? Or will the curtain fall on their real-life fairytale?

About Tessa
Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school
graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days. Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees,
a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband,
best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through
Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the
same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the workforce as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.
She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of eleven years and seven-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
