Everything For You by Chloe Liese

Out NOW!

Gear up for an all-the-feels, steamy slow-burn in this enemies-to-lovers sports romance about fighting for love when lifeโ€™s taught you itโ€™s a losing game.

Gavin

Weโ€™ve been teammates for two years, but it feels like a lifetime that Oliver Bergmanโ€™s been on my last nerve. A demanding captain and veteran player, Iโ€™m feared and friendless, while heโ€™s the beloved rising star, all sunshine smiles and upbeat team spirit. To make matters worse, heโ€™s obscenely attractive. In short: heโ€™s genetically designed to get under my skin.

Avoiding Oliver has been my survival tactic on and off the field. But when Coach drops the bomb that weโ€™re now co-captains, avoiding him becomes impossible, and keeping the truth from himโ€“let alone my distanceโ€“is harder than ever.

Oliver

Life was great until soccer legend Gavin Hayes joined the team and proved heโ€™s nothing like the guy I grew up idolizing. Instead, heโ€™s a giantโ€“albeit gorgeousโ€“grump who lives to rain on my parade. Iโ€™ve sworn off pranks since entering the public eye, so rather than settle our differences the Bergman way, Iโ€™ve had to settle for killing Gavin with kindness. Thereโ€™s just one problem: killing him with kindness is killing me.

To make matters worse, Coach gives us an ultimatum: put an end to our enmity or say goodbye to being captains. Iโ€™m prepared to be miserable while we meet her demands and make nice, but the last thing I expect is to discover an explosive attraction we canโ€™t help but act on, and worse yet, to realize the man hiding beneath Gavinโ€™s gruff exterior is all Iโ€™ve ever wanted.

โ€‹Everything for You is a grumpy-sunshine, enemies-to-lovers, age gap sports romance about an upbeat rising soccer star with anxiety and his curmudgeonly veteran teammate who lives with chronic pain. Complete with nosy senior citizens, nosier siblings, and a meddling coach, this standalone slow burn is the fifth in a series of novels about a Swedish-American family of five brothers, two sisters, and their wild adventures as they each find happily ever after.

Everything for You by Chloe Liese

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Passionate, Hot, and Fun Sports Romance is Very Rewarding

Read โ€œEverything For Youโ€ if you like:
โœ” M/M contemporary romance
โœ” Sports Romance (soccer)
โœ” Enemies to Lovers
โœ” Grumpy x Sunshine
โœ” Age-gap
โœ” Only one bed trope
โœ” Anxiety & Chronic pain rep
โœ” Ted Lasso: Roy Kent vibes
โœ” Dual Points of View
Note: Can be read as complete standalone but I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series before this book (which is Bergmans #5) for full enjoyment

โ€œI have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.โ€ – Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey

Itโ€™s always a pleasure to read Chloe Lieseโ€™s novels as they are thoughtful, well written, and examine the essential natures of their protagonists. Liese doesnโ€™t simply tell a story, she gives us rich characterizations and beautiful world-building. With the Bergmans, we also have a lot of fun.

As we begin, โ€œEverything For Youโ€, Oliver Bergman is mourning a break-up as he and his brother Viggo drive to the Bergman familyโ€™s A-Frame for the celebration of the marriage of Axel and Rooney (โ€œWith You Foreverโ€). Itโ€™s difficult for Oliver to watch all of his loved-up siblings as he nurses his broken heart. Oliver is also learning to cope with his newly-diagnosed anxiety and trying to decide his future path. He decides that in the future, he will keep the people he loves separate from the game he loves: soccer.

Four years later, Oliver is playing for the Galaxy and his once idol, Gavin Hayes, is his very grumpy veteran teammate. That is, until the coach tells them that they are now co-captains of the team. Leaving us with the question: will they be able to work together?

Gavin definitely gives off Roy Kent vibes with his grumpy demeanor, proclivity for swearing, his age, and his pain issues. (I might have a Roy Kent t-shirt, coffee mug and he might be my cell wallpaper so, this made me ecstatic.) Readers who have never seen Ted Lasso will still enjoy Gavinโ€™s grumpy personality. Itโ€™s a great contrast to Oliverโ€™s sunny disposition.

โ€œโ€ฆeverything you say to him is like itโ€™s specially designed to get under his skin.โ€ – Coach

Oliver gets under Gavinโ€™s skin and vice versa but the coach assures Oliver that there is โ€œmoreโ€ to Gavin.

โ€œIโ€™m six-four, big-boned, my voice sounds like gravel-laced ice, and my sentences are eighty-five percent profanity.โ€ – Gavin

The banter between Oliver and Gavin is freaking delightful as is the crushing, the lusting, the pining! All these factors drew me into the story and kept me locked there. I simply could not put this book down. They find themselves tuned in to one another, turned on by one another and neither of them wants to be for different reasons.

โ€œI want to grab him by the shirt and shake him until I have a hold on him like he does on me.โ€ – Oliver

The Bergmans are all back together and we get to see another Bergman Brothers Summit in which they use their romance-reading powers to help Oliver figure out how to handle Gavinโ€™s attitude towards him. I love this family so much. Itโ€™s great to be able to โ€œcheck inโ€ with them and see where they are after their own books have concluded.

As the story progresses, Gavin and Oliver learn more about themselves and each other and itโ€™s so satisfying to be on that journey with them. Their issues with anxiety (Oliver) and chronic pain (Gavin) are touchingly handled by Liese.

โ€œEverything For Youโ€, is a fantastic addition to the Bergmans series. The mutual pining is intense and the tension is so palpable that I don’t think that I would necessarily call this a slow burn. It is hot, hot, hot. I loved Gavin and Oliverโ€™s relationship in all its iterations: tense teammates, wary neighbors, and new lovers. I highly recommend this romance if you love a passionate and steamy story that is rich in characters, that is also fun and heartfelt.

Siggy and Viggo are the two Bergmans who are left to get their own romances and I canโ€™t wait and at the same time, donโ€™t want this series to end.

I received an advance copy of Everything For You by Chloe Liese and this is my honest opinion.
