The best romance reads in January of all the new books released were four outstanding books by Tessa Bailey, Cara Bastone, Chloe Liese and Ilsa Madden-Mills.
Now, I read 42 books in January but quite a lot of them were not “new” books. For instance I introduced myself to the works of Melissa Blue: all of her Under the Kilt novels, including Charming Scottish Bastard, her latest, and Grumpy Jake. I loved each and every one of these books and encourage you to read them all!
I also read a few books I absolutely hated but I won’t get into that here. The one stars are all on Goodreads. Let’s just keep them there.
First up in my absolute loves is Tessa Bailey’s The Sweetest Fix which I reviewed here. I loved the grumpy cinnamon roll baker hero and the hard-working, dancing heroine.
Next up is the football player and the virgin in Ilsa Madden-Mills’ Not My Match which you can read about at this link.
Third on this list is Chloe Liese’s Ever After Always, a marriage-in-crisis, romantic comedy which I reviewed at this link.
Last but not least, I finally read a Cara Bastone novel and absolutely loved it.
Flirting with Forever by Cara Bastone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Lovely Radiant Romance
Mary and John are set up on a date by John ‘s mother but he immediately gets off on the wrong foot when he refers to her age. Eventually they become friends all the while they both want more and think the other isn’t attracted to them. It’s a beautiful slow burn romance with steam. It’s so wonderfully written by Cara Bastone. I loved these characters and loved spending time with them. A must read!
Excerpt
John:
โI think youโre the most beautiful person Iโve ever met, and it has very little to do with clothes or makeup or whatever. Itโs you, Mary. Itโs your whole thing that you have going on. Thatโs the best I can describe it. It doesnโt have anything to do with age. I donโt want to date a twenty-five-year-old. Not even the twenty-five-year-old version of you. I want you, as you are right in this moment. With the sum of all your experiences making you who you are. I wouldnโt shave a single day off your life. This is who you are. And you are what I want.โ
Mary: โI always knew that people like you existed. That there was a man like you out there, and that I deserved him. But my mother almost, almost had me convinced that I was wrong.โ
Have a great February! I hope you enjoyed this list of the best romance reads in January!
